From August 15 to September 1, 2025, the Gloucester Township Police will take part in U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, a nationwide effort to combat impaired driving during the Labor Day holiday period.
This high-visibility enforcement campaign, supported by law enforcement agencies across the country, aims to deter drunk and drug-impaired driving through increased patrols and public awareness. In 2023, 36% of the 511 traffic crash fatalities over the Labor Day weekend involved a drunk driver, with 68% of those drivers having a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .15 or higher—nearly twice the legal limit of .08.
The campaign urges drivers to plan ahead by designating a sober driver, using rideshare services, or taking public transportation if they plan to consume alcohol or drugs. Law enforcement will be out in force, with zero tolerance for impaired driving, to ensure safer roads.
