National Science Foundation Conducting Operations at Trenton-Robbinsville Airport (N87)
The US National Science Foundation is currently conducting low-approach air missions into and out of Trenton-Robbinsville Airport (N87).
These missions using a NCAR C-130 aircraft, as explained in the article below, are expected to continue through the end of August with continued timing late at night/early morning. After dark, the boundary layer (which is an area of the atmosphere researchers have a strong interest in) gets very close to the surface, and the only way to study it is to go into airports where they can get low enough to sample it.
The Township was informed of these missions only after they began early Wednesday morning.
