Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
 
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, August 20, 2025
 
• Lafayette Street between Pulaski Street and Wilson Avenue
• Wilson Avenue between Ferry Street and Darcy Street
• Patterson Street between Ferry Street and Alyea Street
• Lang Street between Wilson Avenue and Elm Street
• Ann Street between New York Avenue and Wilson Avenue
 
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Wilson Avenue and Lafayette Street
 
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
 
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
