Deputies Arrest Man after He Drove Head-on into His Estranged Wife's Vehicle in Bloomington

LOCATION: 17000 Santa Ana Avenue, Bloomington, CA 92316
VICTIM: Adult Female
SUSPECT: Jose Rios, 33-year-old male resident of Bloomington
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, August 14, 2025, at about 8:57 A.M, Fontana Station deputies responded to the 17000 block of Santa Ana Avenue regarding a call for service for an unknown problem. The caller reported her estranged husband had kicked the door down to her residence. The 33-year-old male was identified as Jose Rios, and fled the location in a silver 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe before deputies arrived.
While deputies conducted the investigation, Rios returned to the scene and drove into oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed, head on with the victim’s vehicle. The victim was traveling eastbound on Santa Ana Avenue directly in front of the reporting party’s residence. Rios hit the victim’s vehicle on the passenger side front fender, lost control of his vehicle, and hit a cinder block wall and three separate parked vehicles.
Rios was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injures from the collision. Rios was booked for Penal Code 245 (a)(1) Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Penal Code 594 (b)(1) Felony Vandalism.
