El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from August 3rd to August 9th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from August 3rd to August 9th.   
 
 
August 3rd
Grand Theft – 500 block of Colusa Ave:
At 8:05 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole property between 6:30 PM on 8/2 and 8:30 AM on 8/3.

Grand Theft – 7100 block of Potrero Ave:
At 9:35 AM, an officer reports theft of AT&T copper sometime overnight.

Shoplift – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 3:56 hours, an unidentified suspect used self-check to pay for a cake, but failed to pay for a second one.

Court Order Violation – 10900 San Pablo Ave. (El Cerrito PD)
At 7:06 PM, the victim reports that their ex-spouse violated a custody agreement.

Warrant Arrest – Cutting Blvd. / San Pablo Ave.
At 8:40 PM, an officer contacted a subject and arrested the subject for a warrant out of Contra Costa County. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

August 4th
 Nothing to report

August 5th
Shoplifting – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls).
At 8:57 PM, the suspect entered the business and stole items.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
 
August 6th
Possession of a stolen vehicle – 1300 block of Brewster Drive
At 7:34 AM officers were dispatched to the report of someone tracking their stolen vehicle to a home on this block.  Officers arrived and found the stolen vehicle parked on the driveway.  The occupant of the home was contacted, and she was found to have control over the stolen vehicle.  She was placed under arrest, booked at ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 
 
August 7th
Vandalism – 6500 block of Gladys Avenue
At 9:04 AM an officer responded for the report that someone had damaged the fuel line of a vehicle to steal gas. 

Vehicle Tampering – Lexington Avenue at Hill Street
At 11:20 AM while patrolling a Community Services Officer saw a person walking down the street trying door handles on vehicles trying to get in.  Officers arrived on scene and located the subject in the 1700 block of Liberty Street.  The subject was placed under arrest, booked at ECPD, and then released with a citation. 

Stolen Vehicle – 3000 Block of San Mateo St.
At 7:00 PM, the victim reported his motorcycle had been stolen sometime in the last week. 

August 8th
Theft and Unlawful Use of Credit Cards – 9800 San Pablo Ave (Wells Fargo)
At 12:01 PM the victim reported his credit was stolen and fraudulent charges were made.   

Robbery – 5020 El Cerrito Plaza (Panda Express)
At 1:48 PM the suspect pointed a knife at the victim and stole their portable speaker.  The suspect was contacted at the Plaza BART station and arrested.  The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility,

Battery – 11211 San Pablo Ave (T-MOBILE):
At 8:12 PM, an officer reports that a suspect entered the business and became disgruntled with employees. The suspect threw a plastic water cup at the employees, striking one employee in the arm. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival. 
 
August 9th
Battery – 500 block of Albemarle St
At 1:59 PM while working in the neighborhood, the victim reports that the suspect physically assaulted him.  The suspect fled back into his residence and refused to exit.  A case was written and will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.    
 
Driving Under the Influence/Possession of a Concealed Firearm – 11481 San Pablo Ave:
At 12:16 AM, an officer reports that the suspect fell asleep behind the wheel if his vehicle. Upon being woken up, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. During a search of his person, the driver was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. The driver was transported to Kaiser for medical clearance. Once medically cleared, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave / Plumas Ave:
At 4:12 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for DUI. The suspect was transported to the ECPD jail for booking. The suspect was cited and released to a sober friend.
