The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.  
  
MONDAY, AUGUST 11, 2025: 

4:45 AM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a commercial burglary near Jarvis Ave and Newark Blvd. Reported loss included a cash register.

9:05 AM Officer Lomeli conducted a pedestrian stop near Newark and Cedar Blvds. A 62-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

9:56 AM Officer Lor investigated a theft from an unlocked vehicle reported near Newark and Cedar Blvds. Reported losses included vehicle documents, jewelry, and other miscellaneous items.

10:57 AM Officer Taylor investigated a theft from an unlocked vehicle reported near Starflower St and Camass Ct. Reported losses included clothing items, sunglasses and shoes.

1:41 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated theft of copper wire from a business on Mowry Ave.

6:04 PM CSO Lau investigated a report of a stolen vehicle near Ash St and Snow Ave.

6:42 PM Officer Dale recovered a stolen vehicle on Newpark Mall Rd.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2025: 

7:07 AM Officer Williams investigated a theft from an unlocked vehicle near Cabernet Ave and Orleans Dr. Reported loss included a garage door opener.

7:51 AM Officer Williams conducted a pedestrian stop near Sycamore St and Thornton Ave. A 22-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

10:50 AM Officer Orozco investigated a package theft reported near Scarborough Dr and Wembley Ct.

6:49 PM Officer Lara investigated a license plate theft near Birkdale Dr and Brandywine St.

9:21 PM Officer Norvell investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Rd. Reported loss included a backpack and laptop.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2025: 

4:45 AM Officer Dale located and recovered a stolen vehicle on Newpark Mall Rd.

9:39 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a window smash vehicle burglary reported near Cabernet Ave and Tozier St. Reported loss included power tools.

2:21 PM Officer C. Torres conducted a pedestrian stop near Stevenson Blvd and Balentine Dr. A 42-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant.

8:05 PM Officer Williams conducted a security check near Magnolia St and Graham Ave. A 31-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

10:14 PM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop near Cherry St and Central Ave. A 37-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant.

10:48 PM Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on the property of a business on Balentine Dr. A 37-year-old male was arrested for providing false identifying information, possession of narcotics, and possession of stolen property.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 2025: 

12:05 AM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop near Mowry Ave and Alpenrose Ct. A 36-year-old male was cited for driving on a suspended license.  

1:36 PM Officers responded to a stolen vehicle alert near Mowry Ave and CA-880. Traffic Officer Kapu arrested a 33-year-old male for possession of stolen property, providing false identifying information, possession of narcotics, and violation of probation. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

3:35 PM Officer Shaffer conducted a pedestrian stop near Cedar and Stevenson Blvds. A 47-year-old male was arrested for possession of stolen property and burglary tools, and violation of probation. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.  

FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 2025: 

7:41 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a report of a stolen vehicle on Newpark Mall Rd.

8:47 AM Officer Lor responded to a vandalism reported near Mowry Ave and Alpenrose Ct. A 30-year-old male was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and battery. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

10:32 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a stolen vehicle reported near Cedar and Lido Blvds. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 2025: 

11:46 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Preston Pl and Edgewater Dr. Vehicle registration and insurance information were taken from the unlocked vehicle.

7:30 PM Officer Berlanga responded to a report of a DUI driver near Newark Blvd and Jarvis Ave. A 34-year-old female was arrested for driving while under the influence and resisting arrest.

8:53 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a window smash vehicle burglary near Mowry Ave and Cedar Blvd. Reported loss included approximately $8,000 worth of jewelry.

10:16 PM Officer Orozco investigated a vehicle burglary near Blue Anchor Way and Back Bay Rd. Reported loss included sports equipment.  

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 2025: 

9:52 AM Officer S. Torres conducted a security check on Ardenwood Blvd. A 67-year-old male was located and cited for an outstanding warrant.

9:51 AM Officer Lomeli arrested a 23-year-old female for an outstanding warrant. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

7:14 PM Officer Swadener responded to a disturbance reported on Newpark Mall Rd. A 52-year-old female was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

11:05 PM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a battery in progress on Cherry St. A 19-year-old female was arrested for domestic violence.
