1. Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest (0520) 1500 Block of St. Marks Place, Lakeview District
The female victim, 34, was in the area when the suspect approached and told her to leave. The suspect assaulted her with a wooden object, causing non-life-threatening injuries. Responding officers located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. ARRESTED: Lavelle Shoals, 37, for assault with a deadly weapon.
2. Battery on an Officer (0652) 900 Block of West Monterey Avenue, Civic District
Officers responded to a vandalism report and located a subject matching the suspect description. The suspect fled, but officers were able to catch up to him. As they tried to detain him, he resisted arrest and grabbed an officer's hair. Officers were able to take him to the ground and into custody. When officers removed him from the patrol unit, he kicked the officers and spat on them. The officers were not injured. ARRESTED: Paul Smallie, 40, for resisting arrest and battery on an officer.
