At approximately 4:20 p.m. today, Sutton County experienced a sudden windburst accompanied by heavy rain. This event caused damage to multiple roofs, structures, and trees. The most affected area at this time is the community commonly known as Loma Alta.

City of Sonora employees, along with Sutton County crews, are actively working to clear roads and remove debris to ensure public safety. We ask all citizens to please use caution and remain alert while traveling, and to give our crews space as they work.

We are also anticipating another series of strong winds moving in from the east within the next few minutes. Please take protective measures now to ensure your safety and that of your family.
