INCIDENT: Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision
LOCATION: Dale Evans Pkwy/ Zuni Road, Apple Valley, CA
DRIVER 1: 49-year-old Male Resident of Barstow, CA
VEHICLE 1: Gray 2002 Mazda B-Series
PEDESTRIAN: 53-year-old Male Resident of Apple Valley, CA
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at approximately 8:39 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash. The crash occurred on Dale Evans Pkwy and Zuni Road in the town of Apple Valley. Through investigation, deputies determined the gray Mazda pickup truck traveled north on Dale Evans Pkwy, at Zuni Road. The pedestrian was found to be traveling north in the northbound lane of Dale Evans Pkwy. The vehicle struck the pedestrian from behind and stayed at the scene. The driver of the Mazda cooperated with the investigation.
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor. Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and are conducting an investigation. Dale Evans Pkwy and Zuni Road were closed for about four hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence.
