Wilmington Police have arrested a Newark man on gun charges.
 
On August 19 at approximately 8:10 p.m., police were dispatched to the 500 block of West 12^th Street in reference to a report of a person armed with a gun. Responding officers located a suspect matching the description provided by a caller, and attempted to make contact with him. The suspect – 20-year-old Ra’shawn Owens of Newark – fled from officers but was taken into custody without incident after a brief foot pursuit. Police recovered a loaded .22-caliber handgun and ammunition.
 
Owens has been charged with the following offenses:

• Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
• Resisting Arrest
