Details of innocuous incident near Arroyo Vista Elementary School 
This community advisory is to quell speculation and assure the community that there was an innocuous incident near Arroyo Vista Elementary School that did not jeopardize the safety of anyone in the area.
On Wednesday, August 22, at about 9:08 a.m., staff from Arroyo Vista Elementary School heard screaming near the intersection of Hawthorne Street and Cawston Avenue. They assumed that someone had been hit by a car, called police, and notified Principal Blaney. Officers responded to the scene within three minutes and learned the screams were made by a person walking their dog on a leash because the dog violently pulled them down to the ground. The person was treated at the location by paramedics but declined to be transported to a hospital. No students, teachers, staff, or parents from Arroyo Vista Elementary School were involved in the incident and no vehicles were involved.
