TRAVEL ALERT | US 550 SCHEDULED CLOSURE

Full road closures start Monday (8/25) through Thursday (8/28) on US 550 Coal Bank Pass (Mile Points 56.6 to 63). Motorists traveling between Durango and Silverton will need to adjust travel times or plan alternate routes between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. This daily four-hour closure will allow crews to safely and efficiently install a new culvert under the roadway near the summit of Coal Bank Pass

Closure Locations (August 25 to 28):

• Durango to Silverton (northbound): Motorists will be stopped just north of the Coal Bank Pass Overlook (Mile Point 56.6).

• Silverton to Durango (southbound): Motorists will be stopped at Andrews Lake Road (Mile Point 63)

• Access to Engineer Mountain Trailhead Parking Area and the Coal Bank Pass Overlook will remain OPEN.

Motorists should plan accordingly and schedule all travel around the set closure times or consider the alternate north-south route via Colorado Highway 145 through Telluride.
