Wilmington Police arrest four men on gun and drug charges:

Wilmington Police have arrested four men on gun and drug charges following an investigation.

Beginning in August, members of the Gun Intelligence Unit have been conducting an investigation into a 16-year-old male juvenile, and 18-year-old K’Den Bowen in reference to illegal firearm possession. On August 20, at approximately 10:25 a.m., police located the 16-year-old male juvenile in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the 800 block of West 7th Street. Police attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle, at which time the driver of the vehicle – 23-year-old Nhy-jee Evans – rammed two police vehicles and fled the area. No police officers were injured during this incident.

A short time later, police located the vehicle in the 2000 block of Concord Pike, and took the 16-year-old male juvenile, 23-year-old Nhy-jee Evans, and 23-year-old Sabeer Mumin into custody without further incident. Subsequently, police executed search warrants in the 200 block of North Franklin Street, and the 1200 block of Conrad Street, and took 18-year-old K’Den Bowens into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 55.9 grams of crack cocaine, 4.95 grams of heroin, 399.1 grams of marijuana, and $3,978.

The 16-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was released on $10,000 secured bail.

K’Den Bowens has been charged with the following offense:
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,000 cash-only bail.

Nhy-jee Evans has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
  • Reckless Endangering (First Degree) – Four Counts
  • Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $73,100 cash-only bail.

Sabeer Mumin has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $57,000 cash-only bail.
