The next of kin for the individuals involved in the motorcycle double fatality have been notified. The deceased have been identified as Shawn Michael Cernik, a 50-year-old male, and Tion James Williams, a 47-year-old male.
The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.

INCIDENT TYPE: Motorcycle Fatality, 7000 Block SE 3rd Ave.

DETAILS: On August 23, 2025, Officers were dispatched to the 7700 block of SE 3rd on a Major crash involving 2 motorcycles. Officers discovered an Orange 2014 Harley Davidson Motorcycle and a Gray 2016 Honda VT 1300 Motorcycle. According to a witness both motorcycles were traveling eastbound on SE 3rd at a high rate of speed. The witness stated the Orange Harley Davidson lost control causing it to veer left in front of the Gray Honda motorcycle. The rider in the Gray Honda motorcycle then struck the Harley Davidson motorcycle on the left side causing both riders to be thrown from their motorcycles. Neither rider was wearing a helmet and both riders died at the scene. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept.
