64 Drivers Cited During Pedestrian Safety Operation

Redwood City, California. – The Redwood City Police Department conducted a Pedestrian Safety Operation on 08/19/2025.

The recent Pedestrian Safety Operation conducted by the Redwood City Police Department Motor Unit, was a proactive enforcement effort aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety in the community. This operation, funded by the OTS (Office of Traffic Safety) Grant, focuses on reducing pedestrian-related accidents by ensuring that drivers obey traffic laws, particularly yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks.

The Redwood City Police Department Motor Unit issued a total of 63 citations for 21950(a) CVC: (Driver failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk), and/or 21951(a) CVC (passing a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk), and 1 citation for an outstanding warrant.

The operation took place at the intersection of El Camino Real and Finger St in Redwood City from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

“There’s a lot happening on our roads, and drivers need to pay attention,” Redwood City Police Department, Chief of Police Kristina Bell Said. “Drivers need to be aware of people who are walking and crossing the roadway. Please slow down and let’s remember that safety is a shared responsibility.”

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
