Boil Water Advisory Remains in Effect Until Further Notice - Beware of Scams - Available Water Resources
Please be reminded that a Boil Water Advisory remains in effect from the Manchester Utilities Authority. Continue to follow the Boil Water Advisory guidelines recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Manchester Utilities Authority is working in cooperation with the Passaic Valley Water Commission and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to flush our entire water system, ensuring that our water returns to safe drinking standards. However, the estimated time for the completion of the MUA's flushing program is still pending, so please be on the lookout for an official timeline from the Manchester Utilities Authority.
Please be advised that school officials of Manchester Regional High School and Haledon Public School are closely monitoring the water situation as they prepare for the start of the school year. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains a top priority, and both schools have expressed their commitment to providing safe drinking water while school is in session.
We also urge the community to please beware of utility scams. Scammers may pretend to be utility workers or customer service representatives. Generally, utility companies such as the Manchester Utilities Authority or PSE&G have a prearranged appointment before visiting your home or business. They will travel in marked vehicles, wear uniforms, and carry badges (ID cards). They will never ask for payment or request your Social Security number or banking information. If you are ever in doubt about the identity of a utility worker visiting your home or business, please call the Manchester Utilities Authority directly at 973-942-6538 or email [email protected]. You may also report any suspicious activity to the Haledon Police Department at 973-790-4444.
All curbside trash and recycling pickup remains on schedule. The Haledon Recycling Center (Haledon Municipal Complex - 510 Belmont Avenue) also remains open during its regular operating hours. We kindly urge everyone to dispose of water bottles accordingly.
