Alert
An Official Update from the Manchester Utilities Authority
In order to lift the boil water advisory for MUA customers, the Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) must flush hydrants throughout their system first before the MUA can begin flushing in their system. Flushing helps improve water quality and move fresh water throughout the system. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until the MUA completes this critical flushing process and testing shows the water quality to be safe.
On August 21, PVWC began flushing hydrants in their system. PVWC anticipates that this flushing may take up to 12 days to complete.
As of Sunday, August 24, PVWC was nearly 50% complete. However, over the weekend, PVWC experienced a new water main break in the Riverside section of Paterson which has forced them to temporarily pause flushing.
PVWC does not have a time frame for this new break repair or when they can resume flushing.
