The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time, and the department is committed to ensuring a safe and smooth transition. To raise awareness and increase safety, we are providing a list of roads and times where we anticipate the heaviest traffic.
Here are some traffic safety tips to keep our kids safe:

In addition to increased presence at schools, drivers can also expect heightened traffic enforcement in school zones. Please plan accordingly, stay alert, and help us keep our students safe

To raise awareness and increase safety, we are providing a list of roads and times where we anticipate the heaviest traffic.
Top 7 Roads to Watch as School Starts Back
- Ridge Road at Stouts Lane - 7:15 am to 7:45 am
- Georges Rd / Major Road / Kingston Lane – 7:45 am to 8:10 am
- Kory Drive - 8:50 am to 9:10 am; 3:30 pm
- Roberts Street and Waller Court - 8:50 am to 9:10 am; 3:30 pm
- Constable Rd - 8:50 am to 9:10 am; 3:30 pm
- Cambridge Rd - 8:50 am to 9:10 am; 3:30 pm
- Route 1/ Promenade Blvd – 7:45 am to 8:15 am
Here are some traffic safety tips to keep our kids safe:
Students – walking to and from school
- Pay attention to all traffic signals and/or the crossing guard – never cross the street against a light, even if you don’t see any traffic coming.
- Always walk on the sidewalk (where provided), otherwise walk facing traffic.
- Walk with a friend(s).
- Wear reflective material. It makes you more visible to street traffic.
- Never run out from between cars.
- Be mindful of students and drive with caution in school zones.
- Watch for school buses picking up and discharging students.
- Allow extra time for your morning commute.
- Be mindful of added traffic around schools.
- Be aware of extra pedestrian traffic.
- Yield to students or pedestrians in crosswalks.
