Twentynine Palms Woman Arrested for Fatal Animal Cruelty During Domestic Dispute

LOCATION: 72000 Block of Sunnyvale Drive, TwentyninePalms
SUSPECT(S): Marcella Tejeda, 25-year-old female resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Monday, August 18, 2025, at approximately 7:58 p.m., Morongo Basin Station deputies responded to the 72000 block of Sunnyvale Drive in the City of Twentynine Palms. According to preliminary information, deputies responded to a domestic dispute involving Marcella Tejeda.
The investigation determined that Tejeda had engaged in an argument with a family member over the care of a puppy belonging to her sibling. During the confrontation, Tejeda allegedly became verbally aggressive and refused to return the animal. Witnesses reported that she made threatening statements before forcefully throwing the puppy against a window inside the home.
As a result, the puppy sustained fatal injuries caused by Tejada. Twentynine Palms Animal Control responded and took possession of the deceased animal.
Marcella Tejeda was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on charges of PC 597, Felony Animal Cruelty.
