Borough Council Meeting, Tuesday, 9/2 & 9/16
The Mayor and Council hold their regularly scheduled meetings pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Meetings are held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm. As a convenience, the Borough provides the public the option to attend meetings remotely through Zoom. The meeting agenda and support materials are posted in Borough Hall and on the Borough website at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting.
Back to School Giveaway & Backpack Decorating, Wednesday, 9/3
Join the Highland Park Police Department for a Back to School Giveaway & Decorating Event at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Outdoor Movie Theater, Saturday, 9/13 & 9/27
Join Main Street Highland Park for the last movies for the season on Saturday nights at 9:00 pm at the Municipal Lot on Raritan Avenue between 2nd & 3rd Avenues for the outdoor movie series. Up next: “The Devil and Daniel Johnston (9/13)” and “Twin Peaks Double Feature” (9/27)
Holistic Healing: Mind, Body & Soul, Wednesday, 9/17
Join a Hackensack Meridian Health nurse educator and learn about spiritual, emotional and psychological approaches to healing from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue.
Arts in the Park Street Fair & Art Showcase: Highland Park’s much anticipated Arts in the Park event is returning to Raritan Avenue on Sunday, September 14th from 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Arts in the Park is Main Street Highland Park’s annual street festival, juried art show, and arts and crafts sale. Arts in the Park draws thousands of art enthusiasts and visitors from the region to enjoy artistic offerings, live music, delicious food, children’s activities, and much more. Ongoing Programs:
Free Groceries from H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays 9/2, 9/9, 9/16, 9/23 & 9/30 and Wednesdays 9/3, 9/10, 9/17 & 9/24
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday (except holidays) from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Zone 6 Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays 9/11 & 9/25 & Saturdays 9/13 & 9/27
The Highland Park Food Pantry distribution takes place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue on the second and fourth Thursdays from 9:00 – 10:45 am and 6:00 – 7:00 pm and on the second and fourth Saturdays Thursdays from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult, youth and fall programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough.
Farmers Market
The Highland Park Farmers Market is, bringing fresh, local, homemade products from farmers and vendors across New Jersey. The market is open every Friday through December 12; from 11:00 am to 4 :00 pm in February, March, November, and December; and until 5:00 pm from April through October. Shop for farm-fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal products, and more while supporting local businesses and enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere.
