Important Traffic & Safety Updates for the Upcoming School Year 

We are excited to welcome all students back for the new school year! As we prepare for the start of school, we want to inform parents and guardians of several important traffic pattern changes that have been coordinated in partnership with the Hopatcong School District. These changes are designed to improve safety and traffic flow during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

Please review the following updates carefully:
Hopatcong High School – Traffic Changes
• All non-bus traffic (including parent/guardian drop-off/pick-up, student drivers, faculty, and staff) will enter the high school via Flora Avenue by the baseball field.
• Bus traffic only will enter via Tulsa Trail from Durban Avenue, drop off students at the cafeteria, and exit through Windsor Avenue.
• Windsor Avenue will be closed to incoming school traffic; all vehicles must enter through Flora Avenue.
• Parents dropping off/picking up will enter from Flora Avenue, turn right toward the football field, and then proceed to the drop-off area located at the Main Entrance. Once dropped off, parents can exit through Flora Avenue or Windsor Avenue.

High School Walkers
• Students walking from the Durban Avenue area will use sidewalks to reach the crossing guard at Durban Avenue and Windsor Avenue, who will assist students through the cross to continue to school property.
• All students walking to school from the heights will walk to the crossing guard at Flora Avenue and Mildred Avenue. The crossing guard will cross the students to Charles Street. Students will walk on Charles Street, make a left onto Catherine Place, and continue onto David Road until they reach the crossing guard at David Road and Francis Avenue. Once students are on the Hopatcong Middle School property, they will utilize the path behind the school to get to the high school.

Hopatcong Middle School – Traffic Changes
• Buses only will utilize the access path between the High School and Middle School to drop off and pick up students on the right side of the middle school.
• Parent drop-off/pick-up will enter from Frances Avenue and proceed to the front of the middle school. Parents will no longer access the rear of the school.

Middle School Walkers
• Students from the Durban Avenue area will use sidewalks to reach the crossing guard at Durban Avenue and Windsor Avenue, then take the school path between the high school and middle school.
• Students from the Heights section will follow the same route as high school walkers:
• A crossing guard will cross the students at Flora Avenue and Mildred Avenue. A crossing guard will then cross the students onto Charles Street. Students will continue down Charles Street and turn left into Catherine Place, continue onto David Road until they reach the crossing guard at David Road and Frances Avenue to enter the middle school property.

There are no changes to arrival or dismissal procedures for Tulsa Trail School or Durban Avenue School at this time.
