Hoboken Station to close Labor Day weekend beginning Thursday night for repairs; Cross honoring offered
Residents are reminded that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will be closing the Hoboken PATH station from 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, through 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2. During this time, urgent repairs will be made to the track and interlocking system that enables PATH trains to switch tracks and access different platforms within the station.
During this closure, the Port Authority has coordinated with NJ TRANSIT, NY Waterway, and other transportation partners to provide alternative transportation options for commuters and PATH customers. Options include reduced fare ferries, cross honoring on the Light Rail and certain NJ Transit trains, and free shuttle bus service between Hoboken and Newport and Exchange Place. The buses will operate from Hudson Place between Hudson Street and River Street. The HOP and the taxi stand will relocate to the east side of River Street between Hudson Place and Newark Street.
During the closure, residents are encouraged to leave extra travel time, explore travel alternatives, and prepare for increased traffic around the Hoboken Terminal, due to additional buses in the area. For more information on the closure, the work being done, and the transportation alternatives offered, go to the PATH Forward website at https://www.panynj.gov/path/en/path-forward/hoboken-station-closure-LDW.html or check the previous Nixle alert at http://local.nixle.com/alert/11789871/.
