Multiple Suspects Arrested for Attempting to Steal Wire from A Utility Vault

SUSPECT(S): Sharon Nava, 36-year-old resident of Van Nuys, CA
Hugo Ponce Lopez, 46-year-old resident of Huntington Park, CA
Francisco Espinoza, 47-year-old resident of Long Beach, CA
Christian Sandoval Lopez, 29-year-old resident of Los Angeles, CA
VICTIM(S): T-Mobile US, Inc.
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at about 11:32 a.m., deputies from the Chino Hills Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Butterfield Ranch Road and Mystic Canyon Drive for the report of suspicious persons near a water tower. Deputies contacted several suspects in possession of power tools near a utility vault which had been forced open. Through investigation, deputies determined the suspects were in the process of removing the cut utility wire from the vault and placing it into a nearby vehicle. Hugo Ponce Lopez, Francisco Espinoza, and Christian Sandoval Lopez were arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for Attempted Grand Theft and Possession of Burglary Tools. Sharon Nava was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for Possession of Burglary Tools.
