Organized Retail Theft Investigation Leads to Arrest and Recovery of $80,000 in Stolen Property

Earlier this week, detectives with the Amarillo Police Department’s Theft and Burglary Squad served a search warrant at 2809 Tampa Bay as part of an ongoing investigation into organized retail theft.

During the operation, detectives arrested Adam Moreno for Organized Retail Theft. Moreno and his associates had been under investigation for approximately two months.

The search resulted in the recovery of approximately $80,000 worth of stolen retail merchandise. It took detectives more than three hours to properly document and inventory the recovered property. Members of the Property Division assisted with loading and storing the items.

This investigation was made possible through the collaboration of multiple units and agencies; including the APD Narcotics Unit, APD Property Division and APD Patrol, and DPS Criminal Investigations Division.

The Property Crimes Division extends its appreciation to all the divisions and agencies whose teamwork made this investigation a success. This case highlights the importance of strong collaboration in protecting the Amarillo community from organized criminal activity.
