Apple Valley, Calif. - The Apple Valley Police Department will be out September 6, September 13, September 20, and September 27, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence (DUI).
“Designating a sober driver is a simple choice that can save your life and the lives of others on the road,” Deputy Dominguez said. “Drunk driving is one hundred percent preventable. We’re asking everyone to think of your loved ones, friends and family before getting behind the wheel. Make a plan to get home safely.”
The Apple Valley Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
