Special Weather Statement until 08:30PM

At 731 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Logan, or 22 miles northeast of Tucumcari, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Tucumcari, Nara Visa, Logan, San Jon, Ute Lake State Park and Bard. This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 333 and 373.

Instructions:

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.
