Manchester Utilities Authority Update - Boil Water Advisory Still in Effect - BEWARE OF SCAMS - Available Water Resources

A Message from the Haledon Office of Emergency Management

Manchester Utilities Authority (MUA) Update - Boil Water Advisory Still in Effect - BEWARE OF SCAMS - Available Water Resources - Full Water Restoration in Progress

The Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) has flushed their water system to the MUA’s point of entry. The MUA is currently conducting the crucial step of flushing our water system. This flushing program is being carried out in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and is a vital step toward returning our water to safe drinking standards. Until the Boil Water Advisory is lifted by the MUA, please continue to use bottled water or boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or making ice. The water may be used for flushing toilets, showering, or bathing (please avoid swallowing water while bathing or showering).

Please be reminded to beware of utility scams. Scammers may pretend to be utility workers or customer service representatives. Generally, utility companies such as the MUA or PSE&G have a prearranged appointment before visiting your home or business. They will never ask for payment or request your Social Security number or banking information. If you are ever in doubt about the identity of a utility worker visiting your home or business, please call the MUA directly at 973-942-9027 or email [email protected]. Also, please report any suspicious activity to the Haledon Police Department at 973-790-4444.
