The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.  
 
MONDAY, AUGUST 25, 2025: 

6:45 AM Officer Lor recovered a stolen vehicle near Newark and Cedar Blvds.

8:35 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft reported on Newpark Mall Rd.

4:19 PM Officer S. Torres responded to a disturbance reported near Stevenson Blvd and Balentine Dr. A 67-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

5:50 PM Officers responded to an altercation resulting from a hit and run collision involving a fire hydrant near Cherry St and Clark Ave. A 16-year-old female was arrested for battery and booked at the Juvenile Hall.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2025: 

1:59 AM Officer Cervantes investigated an attempted vehicle burglary near Olive St and George Ave.

2:43 AM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop near Sycamore St and Clark Ave. A 23-year-old male was found asleep behind the wheel. He was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

10:56 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a vehicle burglary near Sycamore and Filbert Streets. Reported loss included work vests.

11:38 AM CSO Lau investigated the theft of several vehicle rims reported on Mowry Ave.

11: 53 AM Officer Kim conducted a pedestrian stop on Ardenwood Blvd. A 59-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant.

1:05 PM Officer Kim conducted a pedestrian stop near Thornton Ave and Blacow Rd. A 51-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

11:41 PM Officer Cervantes responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance near Newark and Cedar Blvds. A stolen vehicle was recovered at the scene.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2025: 

6:52 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a report of a stolen vehicle near Cherry St and Montcalm Ave.

6:54 AM Officer Medina investigated a window smash vehicle burglary reported near Roberston Ave and Manzanita St. Reported loss included miscellaneous cash left in the vehicle.

7:31 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a window smash vehicle burglary reported on Joaquin Murieta Ave. There was no reported loss.

7:31 AM Officers responded to a disturbance near Daphne Ct and Larkspur St. A 53-year-old male was arrested for vandalism. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

4:24 PM Officer Shaffer conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Mowry Ave and Cedar Blvd. A 32-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

11:22 PM Officer Norvell investigated a robbery reported near Cedar Blvd and Cedar Ct. Reported loss included the victim’s phone. This investigation is ongoing.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 28, 2025: 

12:45 PM Officers responded to a restraining order violation on Newpark Mall Rd. A 30-year-old male was arrested for violation of a court order. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

10:04 PM Officer Williams responded to the report of a person down near Cedar Blvd and Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 54-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.  

10:48 PM Officer Kim responded to a report of an attempted vehicle burglary in the area of Cedar and Newark Blvds. The vehicle’s door lock had been tampered with, but no entry was made and there was no reported loss.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 29, 2025: 

8:59 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a report of a stolen vehicle near Salisbury and Edgewater Drives.

2:54 PM Officer Jackman investigated a mail theft reported on Squirrel Rd.

11:49 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a mail theft reported on Hidden Harbor Way.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 30, 2025: 

4:16 PM Officers investigated a missing person reported within the City of Newark. The individual was located later that day.

8:06 PM Officer Stevenson investigated two window smash vehicle burglaries reported on Newpark Mall Rd.

9:17 PM Officer Berlanga conducted a pedestrian stop near Newark Blvd and Jarvis Ave. A 39-year-old male was cited for possession of narcotics.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 31, 2025: 

12:25 AM Officer Stevenson responded to a report of a driver asleep behind the wheel near Mowry Ave and Cedar Blvd. A 56-year-old female was arrested for driving under the influence. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

4:45 AM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a commercial burglary reported on Dumbarton Ct.

11:48 AM Officer Lor cited a 50-year-old female for an outstanding warrant near Cedar Ct and Cedar Blvd.

3:12 PM Officers responded to a disturbance near Thornton Ave and Laurel St. Officer Jackman arrested a 33-year-old female for domestic violence. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

8:47 PM Officers responded to a disturbance near Thornton Ave and Cherry St. A 33-year-old male was arrested for battery and public intoxication. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

10:35 PM Officers responded to a major traffic collision at the intersection of Cedar Blvd and Lafayette Ave.
