CRIME PREVENTION TIPS
As you embark on another hectic week filled with work or school, drop-offs and pick-ups, please take a moment before you begin your busy day to consider a few of the suggestions below.

General Safety & Awareness: Stay Vigilant Regarding Your Environment
  • Be mindful of the people and objects around you rather than getting lost in your phone, as this can make you an easy target.
  • Walk with assurance. Move at a consistent pace in well-lit, frequently traveled areas, and be aware of where emergency exits are located.
  • Steer clear of dangerous situations. Avoid walking alone after dark, stay away from dimly lit areas, and never accept rides from strangers.
  • Be ready to act. If you sense that someone is following you, change your path or head to the nearest occupied home or building for assistance.
  • Call for help. In a threatening situation, shout for help or contact the authorities right away.
Safeguarding Your Possessions
  • Refrain from showcasing your wealth. Steer clear of carrying significant amounts of cash or wearing costly jewelry in public.
  • Hide your valuables. Instead of placing credit cards, driver’s licenses, and keys in your handbag, keep them in a hidden pocket.
  • Ensure your handbag is safe. Keep your purse close to you rather than letting it hang from your arm and avoid leaving it unattended in a shopping cart.
Ensuring Your Home’s Safety
  • Lock everything up. Ensure that all doors and windows, including the garage door, are secured when you leave and while you are at home.
  • Do not open the door to strangers. Always keep your doors locked and refrain from unlocking them for individuals you are not familiar with.
  • Think about security systems. Setting up a simple home security system can offer you peace of mind.
