LOCATION: 4000 block of Phelan Road, Phelan
SUSPECT(S): Thomas Ledbetter, age of 32, resident of Ventura
Terry Obrien, age of 35, resident of Phelan
VICTIM(S): Anderson’s Automotive
SUMMARY: On Monday, September 1, 2025, at 3:53 a.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to Anderson’s Automotive in the 4000 block of Phelan Road in Phelan. According to the reporting party, someone outside could be heard cutting metal.
Deputies arrived and found one suspect, later identified as Thomas Ledbetter, underneath a U-Haul truck attempting to cut off the catalytic converter. Ledbetter attempted to flee the location toward a vehicle waiting nearby, but eventually stopped and was quickly detained by deputies. Deputies observed a male in the nearby vehicle who was identified as Terry Obrien.
Obrien and Ledbetter were both arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center on the above charges.
