Victorville Police Department Holding a FREE “Start Smart” Class for New Drivers and their Parents
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 2, 2025
Victorville, Calif. – The Victorville Police Department is holding a “Start Smart” class for new drivers and their parent(s) or guardian(s). This free class will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Victorville Police Station, located at 14200 Amargosa Road, Victorville, California.
Start Smart is a free 2-hour educational program designed to help newly licensed or soon-to-be licensed teenage drivers in California, to understand the responsibilities that come with driving privileges. The class is open to teens from ages 14-19, and at least one parent or guardian must attend with each teen. This program aims to promote safe driving habits and foster awareness of the importance of responsible driving among young drivers and their families.
Deputies from the Victorville Police Traffic Division will be present to speak directly with teenage drivers and their parents/guardians through open and candid discussions. They will cover important topics such as collision avoidance techniques and common causes of crashes, including excessive speed, DUI, and distracted driving. The program emphasizes the responsibilities that come with driving and educates teens and parents on safety precautions like wearing seat belts, managing passengers, and understanding what to do if involved in a collision.
Space is limited, and registration is required. To reserve your spot, please contact the Victorville Police Department. For more information and to sign up, call (760) 241-2911 or email Socorro Cuevas at [email protected].
