Advisory

Ash Street to Close as Roadway Raised

The City of Harrisonville would like to make our community aware of an upcoming project that will impact some drivers on the north side of town.

Beginning on September 8, crews will be closing Ash Street between N Bradley Avenue and N Independence Street, as part of a project to raise Ash Street and improve storm water flow near City Park.

During the project, Ash will be raised by nearly eight feet, as contractors use dirt work and a larger culvert to raise the channel underneath the road. The hope is that this will limit the amount of times that Ash is closed due to water running over the roadway.

Detour signs will be in place throughout the project. The detour will redirect drivers heading from the east side of town to the west side of town on Ash, by turning south on Bradley and continuing south to E Chestnut Street, and then taking Chestnut west to Independence. Drivers heading from the west side of town to the east side of town on Ash will follow the opposite route – Independence to Chestnut to Bradley to Ash.

As part of the project, N Lexington Street will be closed from just north of Vine Street to just south of Sycamore Street.

City Park will be accessible throughout the project, as the intersection at Ash and Bradley will remain open.

This project is scheduled to last about six months, or until mid-to-late January of 2026.

This project is being funded by money secured as part of the American Rescue Plan Act.

The City is grateful for the opportunity to improve key street and storm water infrastructure within our community and continue to be committed to making Harrisonville a wonderful place to live, work and play.
