Narrative:

During January 2025, deputies assigned to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters Station responded to a graffiti vandalism call for service in the unincorporated community of Saticoy, located in Ventura.  Deputies learned that a group of unknown suspects had defaced several buildings in the community with gang-related graffiti. Headquarters patrol deputies and detectives alerted the West County Special Enforcement Unit to the gang-related graffiti.

The West County Special Enforcement began an investigation into the gang-related graffiti and determined that two local criminal street gangs were involved in defacing property using spray paint in Saticoy.  Members of the West County Special Enforcement Unit identified two members of one of the local criminal street gangs and obtained a residential search warrant to search their residences for evidence linking the two to the gang-related spray-paint vandalisms in Saticoy.

On January 30, 2025, detectives from the West County Special Enforcement Unit served residential search warrants in the 100 block of Ramona Street and the 100 Block of Simpson Street, located within the city of Ventura.  During the service of the search warrants, detectives arrested the juveniles involved. Detectives subsequently arrested one of the male juveniles for a violation of 594(a)(2) PC – Graffiti Vandalism, 186.22(d) PC – Street Terrorism, 29650 PC – Minor in possession of ammunition, along with an outstanding arrest warrant for 211 PC – Robbery. The other juvenile male was arrested for a violation of 594(a)(2) PC – Graffiti Vandalism and 186.22(d) PC – Street Terrorism.  Both male juveniles were lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center at the conclusion of that portion of the investigation.
Detectives continued with the graffiti investigation after the initial arrests and identified other suspects involved in the graffiti vandalism that occurred in Saticoy. Detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence located in the 4000 block of Perry Way, within the Strickland Acres community.  During the service of the search warrant, detectives located three loaded and unregistered firearms along with ammunition. A male juvenile subject was detained at the residence and later arrested for a violation of 27545 PC – Unlawful transfer of a firearm, 29610 PC – Minor in possession of a firearm, 29650 PC – Minor in possession of ammunition, and 186.22(b)(1) PC – Street Terrorism.  The male juvenile subject was later lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center.

The West County Special Enforcement Unit anticipates making several additional arrests over the next few weeks as the investigation continues.  Anyone with information regarding graffiti vandalism occurring in the unincorporated community of Saticoy is encouraged to contact Detective Jonathan Lopez at 805-654-2856 or email at [email protected]
