Hawthorne Police Department Traffic Bureau 
Advisory: Emergency Water Main Repair Goffle Hill Road Closures and Detours 

The Borough of Hawthorne will begin an emergency water main repair on Goffle Hill Road starting Monday, September 8, 2025. The project is expected to last approximately two weeks. 

Road Closures: 

• Goffle Hill Road will be closed daily between 07:30 AM and 5:00 PM. 

• Closures will extend from Grandview Avenue (Hawthorne) to Cedar Hill Avenue (Wyckoff) in both directions. 

• Roads will be reopened each evening once work is completed and the roadway is safe and passable. 

Detours: 

• A full detour plan has been established for both northbound and southbound traffic. 

• Detour signage and police traffic control officers will direct motorists along alternate routes. 

• Expect delays and increased traffic on surrounding roads, including Grandview Avenue, Cedar Hill Avenue, and Route 208. 

Motorist Advisory: 

• Allow extra travel time. 

• Use caution in work zones. 

• Follow all posted detours and police direction. 

• Local access will be maintained where possible.
