The Oakland Police Department (OPD) reminds the public that operating unlicensed dirt bikes, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and other off-road vehicles on public streets is illegal and creates serious safety hazards.
Street takeovers involving these vehicles are considered illegal sideshows. OPD will respond to these incidents in accordance with the law.
Officers will enforce the law by issuing citations, making arrests, and towing vehicles.
If you participate in illegal sideshows, your vehicle could be towed and seized with a 30-day hold.
OPD is dedicated to keeping our streets safe and will continue to take strong action against anyone who engages in illegal and dangerous behavior on our roadways.
