El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from August 10th to August 16th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from August 10th to August 16th.   
 
August 10th
Theft – 1300 block of Scott St.
At 1:39 PM the victim reported that the catalytic converter to their vehicle was stolen last night. 

Theft – 7200 block of Potrero Ave.
At 12:52 PM the reporting party states the suspect stole AT&T copper wires in the area.

Child Abuse – 11720 San Pablo Ave Ave. (El Mono)
At 8:11 PM, an officer reports that the suspect was inside of the business when the suspect began striking their small child. The suspect left the business before officers arrived on scene. Officers utilized the FLOCK cameras and located the vehicle and conducted an investigation.  

August 11th
Residential Burglary – 600 block of Kearney St.
At 8:10 AM the victim reports that sometime last night the suspect broke in the residence that was under construction and stole tools.  

Theft – 1200 block of Norvell St.
At 9:38 AM the victim reports that their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle sometime last night. 

Reckless Burning/Indecent Exposure/Obstructing Officers – 5020 El Cerrito Plaza (Panda Express)
At 9:58 AM the suspect set debris on fire in front of the business.  Officers placed them under arrest and transported them to the police department.  While in the booking room the suspect began exposing themself, refused to listen to officers orders, and had to be placed back into handcuffs.  The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Organized Retail Theft – O’Reilly Auto Parts 10680 San Pablo Ave.
At 12:51 PM the two suspects  entered the store, stole car parts and fled in a vehicle towards San Pablo Ave. 

Warrant Arrest – 6500 block of Morris Ave.
At 1:27 PM, during a security check at a residence officers contacted a subject exiting the side yard.  The subject had a warrant out of Napa County and was placed under arrest.  The subject was booked at the police department and released on a citation.
 
Assault with a Deadly Weapon – BART Path / Lincoln Ave.
At 6:24 PM, the victim was walking on the BART path and was assaulted from behind.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Warrant Arrests – Devonshire Dr / Brewster Dr.
At 4:27 AM, officers arrested two subjects with multiple warrants for their arrest.  Both subjects were later transported to county jail.

Vandalism / Warrant Arrest – 900 Block of Kearney St.
At 5:02 AM, officers were dispatched to a vandalism in progress at the business.  Officers located the subject who also had a warrant for their arrest.  The subject was later transported to county jail.
 
August 12th
Vandalism – 10 block of Santa Fe Ave.
At 1:12 PM the suspect shattered the victims vehicles passenger side window and fled in a vehicle on Santa Fe Ave.   

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave at Conlon Ave.
At 2:32 PM an Officer stopped a bicyclists and located a methamphetamine pipe in the riders clothing.  The subject was arrested and released on a citation.

DUI/DUI with prior Arrest/Resisting Arrest – San Pablo Ave at Potrero Ave.
At 3:56 PM the driver of a vehicle drove over the center median and into oncoming traffic before their vehicle became disabled in the middle of the roadway.  The driver exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol.  The driver resisted arrest, was placed in a restraint device and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Petty Theft – 100 Block of San Carlos Ave.
At 7:01 PM, the victim reported his cars keys were stolen from his unlocked vehicle.
 
August 13th
Attempted Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 500 block of Liberty St.
At 6:31 PM, the victim caught the suspect attempting to steal items inside the victims vehicle.  Officer arrived and arrested the suspect, who was also in possession of a methamphetamine pipe.  The suspect was booked at the police station and released on a citation. 
 
Warrant Arrest – Walgreen’s 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At 4:01 PM an officer contacted the subject during a disturbance call and learned they had a warrant for their arrest.  The subject was arrested, booked at the police department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.   
 
August 14th
Drunk in Public – 800 Block of Ashbury Ave.
At 12:12 AM, officers arrested a subject for public intoxication and transported the subject to county jail.

August 15th
 
Warrant Arrest- 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:34 PM, an officer contacted a subject and discovered he had an outstanding warrant. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

August 16th

Auto Burglary- 7600 Block of Potrero Ave:
At 2:07 AM, an officer reports two vehicles were broken into and property was taken.

Auto Burglary- 2700 Block of Kern St:
At 3:37 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed a window of the victim’s vehicle and stole property.

Warrant Arrest- 11939 San Pablo Ave (Home Depot Lot):
At 5:41 AM, an officer recognized a subject they knew had an outstanding warrant. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the El Cerrito Police department for booking. After booking, the subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Burglary / Vandalism – Pinehurst Wy / Spyglass Ln:
At 6:54 AM, officers were dispatched to a report of multiple vehicles with windows smashed out in the Pinehurst neighborhood.  Thirteen cars were located with smashed windows and interior ransacks.  Some had property loss.  Occurred approximately 3:30 AM.

Vehicle Theft / Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 7600 block of Potrero Ave:
At 11:41 AM, an officer reports the theft of the suspect vehicle in the above vehicle burglary series, that was taken around midnight. 
At 4:45 PM, CHP located the vehicle unoccupied on Sequoia Ave in East Richmond Heights.  The officer who took the report processed the vehicle for evidence and towed it.

Driving Under the Influence- Central Ave/ Yosemite Ave:
At 9:16 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The driver was transported to the police department for booking. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
