El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from August 17th to August 23rd

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from August 17th to August 23rd.   
 
August 17th
Vandalism- 6600 Block of Schmidt Ln:
At 1:23 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect damaged the victim’s property.

Stolen Vehicle- 2000 Block of Key Blvd:
At 11:50 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s backyard and located the victim’s car keys. The suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle.

August 18th
Warrant Arrest/ Possession of Controlled Substance- San Pablo Ave/ Waldo Ave:
At 8:46 PM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the pedestrian had an active warrant. During a search incident to arrest the pedestrian was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. The pedestrian was booked at the police station and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest/ Possession of Controlled Substance- San Diego St/ Belmont Ave:
At 12:43 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a subject they knew had an outstanding warrant. During a search incident to arrest the subject was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. The subject was booked at the police department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

August 19th
Grand Theft – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 HR Fitness)
At 8:59 AM, the victim reports their electric bicycle was stolen.

August 20th
Petty Theft – 5920 Cutting Blvd. (Jack in the Box)
At 5:10 PM, the victim reports items were taken from their purse on 08/14/25.

Identity Theft – 9900 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 7:48 PM, the victim reported an unknown suspect opened an account in her name.

Warrant Arrest / Drug Paraphernalia – 4010 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 12:19 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant.  The subject was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.  The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facilty.

August 21st
Vehicle Theft – 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave
At 8:34 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight.

At 8:52 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight.

Petty Theft – 3000 block of Yolo Ave
At 8:42 AM, the victim reports the theft of their garbage can.

Attempted Vehicle Theft – 3300 Block of Santa Clara Ave
At 4:09 PM, the victim reports a suspect attempted to steal their vehicle sometime overnight.

Theft – 800 Block of Galvin Dr.
At 7:10 PM, the victim reported their package stolen from their porch.

Assault – BART Path / Manila Ave.
At 8:13 PM, officers responded to an assault that occurred an hour earlier.  The victim reported being punched in the arm by an unknown subject.

Grand Theft – 400 Block of Albemarle St.
At 11:50 PM, the victim reported an unknown suspect stole items from inside their vehicle.

August 22
Grand Theft – 11545 San Pablo Ave:
At 3:08 PM, an unidentified suspect stole an electric scooter from in front of Ross while the victim was inside shopping.

Residential Burglary- 5700 Block of El Dorado St:
An officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to enter the victim’s home by prying a window.

Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave/ San Diego St:
At 1:34 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a friend.

August 23
Vandalism / Warrant Arrest – 11511-11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 4:15 PM, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a suspect for vandalism after she tore several posters in the business.  Nearly every store in the center called about the suspect throwing items around inside their businesses, and she was eventually detained near Walgreen’s.  No crimes was substantiated in the other stores.  The suspect also had an arrsest warrant out of Solano County.  They were booked at the police department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
