El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from August 24th to August 30th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from August 24 to August 30.   
 
August 24
Battery- 240 El Cerrito Plaza (Mel O Dee):
At 2:06 AM, an officer reports the victim was at the bar when the suspect blocked her way and grabbed her neck. 
 
Warrant Arrest- IFO 7000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 3:00 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the pedestrian had two outstanding warrants. The pedestrian was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Attempt Auto Theft- 2600 Block of Yuba Ave:
At 3:59 AM, an officer reports two unknown suspects attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle.

Auto Burglary x2- 5600 Block of Jordan Ave:
While circulating for the above suspects, officers located two vehicles that had smashed out windows. Officers contacted the owners of the vehicles and discovered property was missing.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon- San Pablo Ave/ Wall Ave:
At 4:43 AM, officers were dispatched to the area for a shooting. Upon arrival officers located the shooting victim’s vehicle several blocks away. Officers located the victim inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid until an ambulance arrived to transport the victim to a hospital for further medical treatment.  The victim refused to provide a statement to the officers about how they were shot.    

Burglary – 2500 block of Edwards Ave:
At 9:26 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered the right front window of the victim vehicle and stole property between 7:00 PM on 8/23 and 7:00 AM on 8/24.

Vandalism – 400 block of Kearney St:
At 12:12 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered a window of the victim vehicle between midnight and 7:00 AM on 8/23.  

Vandalism – 5400 block of Hillside Ave:
At 12:21 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered a vehicle window between midnight and 12:20 PM.  No known property loss.

Warrant Arrest- Ohlone Greenway/ Central Ave:
At 1:15 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the pedestrian had an active warrant. The pedestrian was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

August 25th
Sexual Assault – 6500 block of Donal Ave.
At 5:43 AM the victims called police and stated they were inappropriately touched by the suspect.  The suspect was arrested, booked at the police station and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Theft – 900 block of Galvin Dr.
At 12:59 PM the victim reported that fence wire was stolen from his residence that was being renovated.

Grand Theft – 400 Block of Village Dr.
At 6:40 PM, the victim reported his e-bike stolen.

Drunk Driving – San Pablo Ave / MacDonald Ave.
12:51 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for drunk driving.  The driver was later released on a citation.
 
August 26th
Trespass- 1700 Liberty St:
At 7:47 PM, officers were dispatched to the residence for an unknown subject in the backyard. The subject was located and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito police station and released on a citation. 
 
Assault on a Police Officer- 11545 San Pablo Ave (Ross):
At 8:53 PM, an officer was in the area for an unrelated call when he noticed a subject exit from the emergency exit of Ross with an armful of unpaid merchandise. The officer attempted to detain the subject as the subject entered a vehicle. When the officer continued to give commands for the subject to stop, the subject reversed his vehicle and collided into the officer. The vehicle fled the scene but was later located several blocks away unoccupied. The vehicle was impounded and processed for evidence.

August 27th
Embezzlement and Warrant Arrest – 10612 San Pablo Ave (Urgent Pet Care)
At 11:10 AM, an employee was caught fraudulently using the businesses credit card account.  The suspect was arrested and was found to have a warrant for their arrest.  The suspect was booked at the police station and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplift and Obstructing a Police Officer – Harbor Freight 11060 San Pablo Ave.
At 1:54 PM an officer attempted to stop a shoplifting suspect, however the suspect fled and eluded capture.  The stolen merchandise was recovered and brought back to the store.

Organized Retail Theft- 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 8:20 PM, an officer reports five subjects stole merchandise from the business.

August 28th 
Theft from Vehicle – 6400 block of Conlon Ave.
At 9:15 AM the victim reports that someone entered their unsecured vehicle last night and stole miscellaneous items.

Vandalism – 1700 block of Liberty St.
At 9:22 AM the victim found their fence was damaged.

August 29
Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave/ Cutting Blvd:
At 10:43 PM, officers were dispatched to a collision and arrested one of the drivers for suspicion of DUI. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

August 30
Auto Burglary- 1700 Block of Arlington Blvd:
At 2:22 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered a window on the victim’s vehicle and stole property.

Vehicle Theft / Recovered Stolen Vehicle / Hit and Run / Resist Arrest – 7200 block of View Ave:
Approximately 2:30 AM, a vehicle was stolen and used in a commercial burglary in Walnut Creek.  The vehicle returned to the area and was located by a sergeant before colliding with a parked car.  The juvenile occupants fled on foot and were not captured.

Vehicle Theft – 700 block of Colusa Ave:
A vehicle was stolen sometime between 10:30 PM on 8/29 and 11:56 AM on 8/30. 

Battery – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 12:49 PM, an officer reports mutual combat between a father and son over a discipline issue.  Both declined prosecution.

Warrant Arrest/ Possession of Narcotics- 1000 El Cerrito Plaza(Lucky):
At 10:13 PM, officers were dispatched to the business for a suspicious circumstance. Officers contacted a subject that refused to leave the business when asked by employees. Officers discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant. After booking at the El Cerrito Police station, the subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
