Three more vehicles were seized this weekend after they were involved in illegal sideshow activity in Oakland: one from Union City, one from Rohnert Park, and one from Oakland. So far this year, OPD has tracked down and towed 138 vehicles after this illegal and dangerous activity. More than 80% of those vehicles are not from Oakland.
These numbers do not include vehicles towed directly by officers at or near the scene of a sideshow. If you participate in illegal sideshows in Oakland, your vehicle may be towed and held for 30 days.
If you take part in illegal sideshows in Oakland and drive home thinking you’re in the clear, think again. Just because you got away that night doesn’t mean we won’t find you. Our investigators continue working to identify those responsible for criminal behavior and participation. We also collaborate with law enforcement partners to prevent and reduce these dangerous gatherings.
