Residential Burglary Suspect Arrested

On 9/8/2025 at approximately 9:01 A.M. the Petaluma Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Cordelia Dr. to investigate a residential burglary, which had just occurred.  It was reported that an unknown suspect had entered an open garage and stole a leaf blower and other miscellaneous items.

A Petaluma Police officer arrived in the area and located a male who matched the described suspect.  When the officer attempted to contact the suspect, later identified Robert Arteaga, he initially fled on a bicycle.  The officer requested additional officers and initiated a foot pursuit.  A Petaluma Police Department drone was also deployed and located Arteaga, who was hiding in the backyard of a nearby residence.  Officers entered the backyard and located Arteaga, who was hiding in a trashcan.  Arteaga was taken into custody without incident. Arteaga also had an outstanding arrest warrant.  He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for residential burglary, prowling, and for the outstanding arrest warrant.
