Captain Brandon Barclay Appointed as New Station Captain of Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is proud to announce the appointment of Captain Brandon Barclay as its new station captain, bringing nearly two decades of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to his new role. For the past four years, he has served as the Operations Lieutenant at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Captain Barclay began his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 2007, attending the North Academy at College of the Canyons. His initial assignments included the North and South Facilities at the Pitchess Detention Center, as well as the Mira Loma Detention Center. He later transitioned to patrol duties at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station and went on to serve with the Community Partnership Bureau’s Crime Impact Teams, where he strengthened his commitment to community-based policing.
He was promoted to detective in Lancaster in 2013 and later served as a field sergeant at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. During this time, he developed a passion for serving vulnerable populations, supervising the Mental Evaluation Teams in the North Patrol Division for four years while also working as a crisis negotiator, specializing in de-escalation and mental health intervention.
Captain Barclay went on to serve as watch commander in Lancaster and later Santa Clarita, before assigned as Operations Lieutenant, and now Captain of the station he has long called home.
His academic achievements reflect the same commitment to growth and service. Captain Barclay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from California Lutheran University, a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego, where he graduated with department honors, and a Certificate in Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School.
"Serving as Captain of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is more than a job—it’s an honor to protect and serve the community I call home,” said Captain Barclay. “I’m committed to working alongside our City, community partners and residents to drive crime down and ensure Santa Clarita remains one of the safest places to live, work and raise a family."
