Law Enforcement Agencies Announce Impaired Driving Enforcement Effort
Law enforcement officers from multiple Rock County agencies will be increasing patrols to prevent impaired driving as part of the Rock County Impaired Driving Enforcement Task Force this weekend.
During this period of heightened enforcement, officers will focus on identifying and stopping impaired drivers. Driving under the influence includes the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or prescription medication. There will be zero tolerance for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, open intoxicants, seatbelt violations, and the improper use of child safety restraints.
Law enforcement reminds drivers to take the following steps to stay safe:
- Always wear your seatbelt.
- If you plan to drink or use drugs that impair your ability to drive, choose a sober designated driver.
- If you’re feeling buzzed, you’re likely over the 0.08 BAC limit. Do not drive—use public transit, call a taxi, or ask a sober friend for a ride.
- Many taverns and restaurants also participate in Safe Ride programs. Visit www.tlw.org and click on “Safe Ride” for more details.
- Report suspected impaired drivers to law enforcement by calling the Rock County Communications Center at (608)757-2244. Provide as much detail as possible on the driver, vehicle, license plate, and location.
A grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation provides funding for this enforcement effort.
