Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
 
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, September 17, 2025
 
18th Avenue between Brookdale Avenue and West End Avenue
Alexander Street between Valley Street and Spencer Street
Sunset Street between Lindsley Avenue and 18th Avenue
 
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at 18th Avenue and Alexander Street.
 
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
 
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
