Narrative:
The Ojai Police Department will be hosting a program to educate newly licensed and future drivers. This program will take place on Friday, September 26th, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Ojai Police Department Multi-Purpose Room. The “Start Smart” Program is a cooperative effort between the California Highway Patrol, Ojai Police Department, teenage drivers, and their parents/guardians.
In an effort to stay proactive rather than reactive, Start Smart is designed to help young drivers and their parents or guardians understand the responsibilities that come with driving a motor vehicle. Start Smart will demonstrate how a poor choice behind the wheel can impact the lives of everyone involved. Our goal is to raise awareness and decrease the number of teen-related injuries and deaths caused by traffic collisions.
To make a reservation, call the Ojai Police Department at (805) 646-1414. Space is limited to 20 students along with their parents or guardians. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend. There is no charge for attending the program.
