Incident Summary

On 9/13/2025 at approximately 3:04 p.m., a Petaluma Police Officer observed a vehicle driving on the roadway without a front license plate.  The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 21-year-old Andy Pacheco Cruz.

Officers obtained consent to search Pacheco Cruz’s vehicle, and during the search they found a loaded handgun. The handgun, a Glock, 45 caliber, semi-automatic, was underneath the front passenger seat.  It was determined the handgun was registered to Pacheco Cruz.

Based on the handgun being loaded and not properly secured in the vehicle, Pacheco Cruz was arrested for possession of a concealed handgun and transported to the Sonoma County jail.

The Petaluma Police Department would like to remind the public that any handgun that is transported in a vehicle must be unloaded and secured in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container.  In addition to the handgun being unloaded, the ammunition must be stored away from the handgun.
