Newark Police Department Crime Blotter: Monday September 8 - Sunday September 14, 2025

The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2025:
 
12:22 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Vuong investigated a window smash vehicle burglary at Newpark Mall Road. A wallet was taken from the vehicle. Officer Lara then investigated a vehicle theft reported in the same lot.
 
6:55 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle burglary on Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cedar Blvd. The loss is unknown at this time.
 
9:20 AM CSO Lau investigated a vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Road. Reported loss included power tools and cash left in the vehicle.
 
9:37 AM Officer Lomeli investigated the theft of a suitcase containing firearms left in the rear trunk of a vehicle.
 
10:20 AM Officer Lor investigated a domestic violence incident on Sycamore St.
 
4:53 PM Officer Taylor recovered a stolen vehicle near Enterprise Dr & Wells Ave.
 
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2025:
 
7:35 AM Officer Orozco responded to a battery reported near Cedar Blvd & Forbes Dr. A 28-year-old male was arrested for battery and was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
10:52 AM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop near I-880 & Thornton Ave. A 26-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
4:56 PM Officer Jackman investigated the theft of a license plate from Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
11:06 PM Officer Diaz-Perez was dispatched to a report of suspicious persons near Buena Vista Dr & Cherry St. Upon investigation, it was determined mail theft occurred in the area.
 
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2025:
 
5:26 AM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to an attempted vehicle theft reported near Cherry St & Thornton Ave. The door lock was forced open, and the hood was accessed. 
 
11:39 AM Officer C. Torres performed a traffic stop near Newark & Cedar Boulevards. A 29-year-old male was cited for driving with a revoked license.
 
11:45 AM Officer Shaffer conducted a pedestrian stop near Central Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 49-year-old male was arrested under the influence of narcotics.  He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
12:34 PM Officer Medina investigated a mailbox theft near Enterprise Dr & Willow St.
 
2:42 PM Officer Williams retrieved an unreported stolen vehicle that was recovered by a neighboring agency. An investigation was initiated near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
 
3:00 PM CSO Vuong investigated several vehicle burglaries on Newpark Mall Road. Loss of tools was reported in one incident.
 
3:07 PM Officer Orozco investigated a commercial burglary near Jarvis Ave & Overlake Pl.
 
9:52 PM CSO Mora was dispatched to a vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Road. Reported loss included a backpack containing electronics.
 
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2025:
 
8:16 AM Officer Medina retrieved an unreported stolen vehicle that was recovered by a neighboring agency. An investigation was initiated near Sycamore St & Graham Ave. and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
 
10:05 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a narcotics incident near Stevenson & Cedar Boulevards. A 30-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
12:07 PM Officer Piquette was dispatched to narcotics reported near Sycamore St & Clark Ave. A 30-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants and possession of narcotics. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
4:15 PM Officer Shaffer responded to a disturbance reported on Newpark Mall Road. A 35-year-old male was located near the location and arrested for criminal threats. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
4:30 PM Officer Jackman investigated a shoplifting incident reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
 
6:19 PM Officer Orozco investigated a retail theft reported near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd.
 
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2025:
 
10:23 AM Acting Sergeant Herbert investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Sycamore St & Graham Ave. The door lock was forced open, and reported loss included clothing articles left in the trunk.
 
10:24 AM Officer C. Torres conducted a welfare check near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd on a person sleeping in front of a business. A 56-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant and possession of narcotics.
 
11:26 AM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Thomas Ave & California St. The vehicle was determined to be stolen and was subsequently returned to the owner.
 
11:44 PM Officer Dale investigated a report of mail theft near Willow St & Seawind Way.
 
11:45 PM CSO Mora recovered a stolen vehicle near Mowry School Rd & Cedar Blvd.
 
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2025:
 
2:42 AM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop near Baine Ave & Cherry St. An 18-year-old male was arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
5:16 AM Officer Soto responded to an active assault reported near Central Ave & Birch St. A 34-year-old male was arrested for battery and was transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:07 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft reported near Cotton Ave & Cherry St.  
 
9:45 AM Officer Taylor was dispatched to a court order violation reported near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 33-year-old male was arrested for violation of probation terms. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
8:22 PM Officer Swadener responded to a welfare check requested near Cedar Blvd & Balentine Dr. A 34-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant.
 
10:35 PM Officer Pacheco responded to a suspicious person reported near Newark Blvd & Thornton Ave. A 37-year-old male was arrested for multiple warrants and possession of narcotics. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
11:11 AM Officer S. Torres recovered a stolen vehicle near Dairy Ave & Olive St.
 
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2025:
 
12:59 AM Officer Pacheco responded to a report of a suspicious person near Dairy Ave & Olive St. A 39-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
2:25 AM Officer Dale investigated an active report of harassment near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 37-year-old male was arrested for criminal threats. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
3:42 AM Officer Soto investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Darvon Ct & Charles St.
 
8:47 AM Officer Lor served a search warrant near Cedar Blvd & Cedar Ct. A 26-year-old female was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
9:01 AM Officer S. Torres responded to a vehicle burglary reported near Sycamore St & Graham Ave. The door lock was forced open. Reported loss included personal accessories and a dash camera from the vehicle.
 
9:34 AM Officer Jackman investigated a mailbox theft near Willow St & Seawind Way.
 
11:00 AM Officer Lomeli responded to a vehicle burglary reported near Magnolia St & Graham Ave. The loss is currently under investigation.
 
1:15 PM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft reported near Sycamore St & Graham Ave.
 
2:28 PM Officer Taylor investigated a package theft near Cedar Blvd & Mowry School Road.
 
4:15 PM Officer Taylor investigated a theft of commercial storage containers near Sycamore St & Graham Ave.
 
4:30 PM Officer Jackman investigated a report of a stolen dog near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd. The dog was later recovered and returned to the owner.
 
8:03 PM Officer Berlanga investigated a report of a wallet stolen on Newpark Mall Road.
