Deputy Jordan Cox with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 35-year-old Nicholas Elijah Hallock of Spruce Pine with the following offenses:
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
- Felony Possession with intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Felony Maintain a Vehicle, Dwelling or Place for Controlled Substance
- Misdemeanor Simple Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
- Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was given a secured bond of $50,000 for the McDowell County charges and no bond for the Georgia warrant.
On Sunday, Sept. 14, Deputy Cox initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 221 South for a traffic violation. Hallock was the driver of the vehicle and had an extraditable fugitive warrant out of Georgia.
With the assistance of MCSO K9 Rambo, deputies searched the vehicle and located suspected amounts of methamphetamine totaling 4.7 grams, drug paraphernalia and multiple doses of Lorazepam (a Schedule IV pill used for anxiety and amnesia).
Troopers with the N.C. State Highway Patrol assisted with the incident.
