Narrative:
On September 11th, 2025, three suspects were arrested for their involvement in an organized residential burglary which occurred in the unincorporated Ventura County community of Lake Sherwood.  Detectives are working closely with neighboring law enforcement agencies and anticipate the identification of additional victims.

On July 28th, 2025, the victims were at work when they discovered the tires of both their parked vehicles had been intentionally slashed. Later that day, when the victims returned to their residence, located on Trentham Road in the unincorporated area of Ventura County south of the city of Thousand Oaks, they discovered their home had been burglarized, resulting in a significant loss of property.

For a month and a half detectives worked hard to identify the individuals responsible for committing this burglary.  Through various investigative techniques and resources, detectives were able to identify three suspects.  Detectives also learned one of the suspects had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Orange County, on charges of residential burglary.

On September 11th, 2025, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detectives located three suspects, Alexander Rodriguez, Oscar Fajardo-Cely and Yiset Rodriguez-Mora, traveling in a vehicle in the city of Los Angeles.  Detectives attempted to arrest the suspects when the vehicle parked on a residential street in the 200 block of N. Fremont Avenue, however the vehicle attempted to flee and collided into an uninvolved vehicle parked on the street.  Rodriguez-Mora fled the vehicle on foot and was arrested a short distance away.  Rodriguez and Fajardo-Cely remained in the vehicle and were arrested without further incident.

Evidence related to residential burglary was located in the vehicle, including burglary tools and camouflage “ghillie suits.”  Detectives were granted a search warrant to search the homes of both Rodriguez and Rodriguez-Mora, which resulted in the discovery of additional evidence connecting them to the Ventura County burglary.  Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives are working closely with neighboring law enforcement agencies and anticipate the identification of additional burglary victims.

The three suspects were booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility.  Rodriguez was booked on charges of 459PC - Residential Burglary, 182(a)(1)PC - Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and 466PC - Possession of Burglary Tools.  His bail was set at $250,000.

Rodriguez-Mora was booked on the above charges, in addition to PC148.9(a)PC – Providing False Information to a Peace Officer, and 470(b)PC- Forgery.  Her bail was set at $50,000.

Fajardo-Cely was booked on charges of 466PC - Possession of Burglary Tools and 182(a)(1)PC - Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. His bail was set at $20,000.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to safeguarding our communities and also works closely with our neighboring agencies in doing so.  As a reminder, residential burglars tend to target unoccupied residences, often those which back to open spaces such as hiking trails and golf courses.  The Sheriff’s Office offers the following suggestions to deter our communities from being targeted:

  • Leave indoor lights and/or televisions on during the evening hours to give the appearance the house is occupied.
  • Close and lock all windows and doors when leaving the house.
  • Activate alarm systems when leaving the house.  Even if you only plan on being away for a brief period.  Consider having your alarm company list Sheriff’s Dispatch as it’s first contact on an alarm activation.
  • Alarm systems should consist of door sensors, window sensors and glass break sensors for all windows and doors on the first and second story of the house.
  • Safes have been specifically targeted during these burglaries.  Consider storing valuables in safe deposit boxes or other secure locations.
  • Report any suspicious vehicles or individuals immediately by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (805) 654-9511.  Pay particular attention to vehicles that drive slowly up and down residential streets, and vehicles parked adjacent to hiking trails or golf course access points during hours that are not consistent with hiking or golfing.
