On September 17^th, 2025, at approximately 11:20 PM, Petaluma Police officers were dispatched to a report of a hit-and-run collision resulting in minor injuries. The suspect vehicle was quickly located traveling southbound on Highway 101 at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and the driver yielded on the freeway shoulder.
 
During the contact, officers observed objective signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication and began a DUI investigation. The driver, 19-year-old female Alicia Wright, suddenly pushed an officer and began violently resisting arrest. Due to the dangerous location on the freeway shoulder, the California Highway Patrol was requested to assist by blocking traffic to ensure the safety of officers, the suspect, and passing motorists.
 
Despite repeated verbal commands, the suspect continued to violently resist for several minutes before officers were able to safely detain her. The driver sustained injuries during the altercation and was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
 
Following treatment, she was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run causing injury, assault on a peace officer, and resisting arrest.
 
The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank the California Highway Patrol for their quick response and assistance in safely managing this dangerous incident.
 
The case will be forwarded to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office for review.
