SUMMARY:  On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, investigators from the Rural Crimes Task Force conducted a follow up investigation into a stolen tractor. Investigators learned in July of 2025, Hunter Schoales rented a tractor from an equipment rental company. He completed the rental online under a business that was no longer operational and had the tractor delivered to a location near Gorgonio Road, in Phelan. It was discovered Schoales had committed similar crimes in the past. The rental company estimated the tractor’s value at approximately $160,000.

Investigators located the stolen tractor near the 5600 block of Gorgonio Road. A search warrant was authored and served at the location. During the search warrant service, an AR-10 rifle, that is not compliant with California state laws, was located. Autumn Whitmark and Raymond Giles, who live at the location, were arrested and transported to the High Desert Detention Center.

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, investigators authored and served a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of Bewley Street in Santa Ana. Investigators contacted Hunter Schoales. During the search warrant service, a law enforcement type body worn camera, taser, and a police department issued badge were located. Schoales was transported to a nearby hospital for an unrelated medical emergency. The report will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office.
